Microshading and Ombre Eyebrows

Want to wake up with perfect Instagram brows every morning? Microshading, also known as ombre brows or powder brows, is a semi-permanent form of cosmetic tattooing that creates the appearance of powder-filled brows. Microshading is like the sister of microblading: rather than individually drawn eyebrow hairs, it creates a filled-in shape. If you love the look of your brows complete with eyebrow pencil or powder, microshading can give you the perfect version of that, with results that will last for up to 2 years.

Unique

Microshading vs. Ombre Brows

Ombre brows are a variant of microshading, creating a lighter shade on the inner end of your brows and a denser, bolder look towards the tails. This gives you a defined shape but a natural gradient.

How Microshading Works

Microshading uses a handheld wand to apply pigment to the skin using many tiny dots. Together, these dots create a filled-in effect, like using powdered makeup. Each Houston microshading appointment begins with a consultation to determine exactly the eyebrow shape, shade, and boldness you’d like. We shape an arch to suit your face shape and mix a custom pigment to complement your hair color and skin. Once your eyebrows have healed, you’ll have perfect, full brows from the moment you roll out of bed.

How

What’s the difference between microshading and microblading?

The main difference between microblading and microshading is the technique. Microblading uses small needles to create microcuts that mimic individual eyebrow hairs. Microshading uses a collection of pinpoint dots to create an airbrush effect. The results are different kinds of looks: fluffy, natural-looking brows through microblading, and filled-in, made up brows using microshading. Because of the different application processes, the two procedures are suited to different skin types. Microblading can fade quickly and look less crisp on oily skin or skin with large pores. Microshading, however, works well on all skin types.

Who is microshading good for?

Microshading can be a great option for anyone, and we recommend it to our clients who love the powder brows look. It’s an especially great procedure for brow enthusiasts who regularly swim, work out, or work in intense environments. Microshading gives you perfect brows that won’t be affected by humidity, water, or sweat.

How long do microshaded brows last for?

You can expect your microshaded brows to last up to 2 years, depending on your skin type and lifestyle. Microshading typically lasts for a little longer than microblading, and most clients enjoy the results up to 2 years before needing a touch-up.

How often do I need to get touch-ups?

If you want to keep your brows in perfect form, we recommend coming in for a touch-up every 1.5-2 years, depending on how your shading is lasting.

How will my eyebrows look after microshading?

As with any tattooing procedure, there is a recovery process for microshading. You can expect your brows to look red and a little inflamed for a couple of days, up to a week. During that time, you can apply our specially designed cream to soothe your brows and help them to heal. As your new brows recover, you’ll experience a little flaking. Within about two weeks, your brows will have healed, and you can enjoy the perfect filled in look!

Does microshading hurt?

Microshading is a cosmetic tattooing procedure, and it does cause some discomfort. The shading technique doesn’t penetrate as deeply into the skin as traditional tattoos or even as far as microblading, making it a less painful brow option. Depending on your level of pain tolerance, we can apply a topical numbing cream to make the process more comfortable.
