Dermaplaning removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz from the face. A thin layer of fuzzy hair, called vellus hair, is natural on our face. But for some, this hair may be more visible than you’d like. Dermaplaning safely removes the hair and exfoliates the skin underneath, creating a long-lasting smooth face.
Dermaplaning is a gentle skin care treatment that removes a top layer of dead skin cells and peach fuzz, leaving you with clean, smooth skin.
If you’d like the bright, even look of a freshly exfoliated face, dermaplaning may be perfect for you.
After a Houston dermaplaning treatment, you can expect: Removal of facial hair, peach fuzz, and dead skin — Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles — Reduction of acne scarring — Smooth, even skin tone — Bright, refreshed skin — Better penetration of your skincare products
When you book a Houston dermaplaning appointment, we use a sterile blade that looks much the same as the surgical blade, to scrape off vellus hair, a top layer of dead skin cells, and other contaminants. Immediately afterwards, you should notice that your skin looks brighter and smoother. Also, frustrating hair along your cheeks and hairline will be gone.
For most clients, dermaplaning is painless, similar to shaving your legs. You may feel a slight tingling feeling.
Your face might look slightly red for a couple of hours after treatment, but this will fade quickly. For 2-3 days, you may notice that your skin feels slightly sensitive. We recommend applying our medical grade BeautiRx hydrating moisturizer and BeautiRx physical sunscreen daily, and avoiding excess sun exposure. Within a couple of days, your skin will feel normal again, but with a smoother and brighter texture.
For most clients, we recommend a dermaplaning treatment every 3-5 weeks. Over about 3 weeks, dead skin cells will accumulate again, and vellus hair will regrow. Regular dermaplaning will keep your skin clear, smooth, and allow your skin product to penetrate better into your skin.
If you have an active acne flare up or a sunburn, you should wait to have your face dermaplaned. Dermaplaning may aggravate any active skin issues.
